Purpose
The purpose of the St. Joseph Catholic School Chapter of the National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) is to recognize 5th grade students for their outstanding academic achievement and demonstrated personal responsibility, to provide meaningful service to the school and community, and to help develop essential leadership skills within the students of St. Joseph Catholic School. In addition to maintaining good grades, the members of NEHS strive to be a positive influence within our community, demonstrate a willingness to work for the benefit of those in need, and sincerely strive to follow through with daily commitments and obligations. Throughout the year, members of NEHS engage in various activities to help others within our school, local, national, and global communities.
Requirements
- Academic: Must have maintained a cumulative, overall average of 95.0% in ALL courses with numerical grades, have no failing final grades in any courses (grades 3-5).
- Religious: Must serve at Mass in some capacity and demonstrate a life of virtue.
- Leadership: Must demonstrate sound and effective leadership, admirable citizenship, and trustworthy character at St. Joseph School and in the community.
- Faculty Endorsement: The Faculty Committee will vote on each student’s suitability in the NEHS.
